EDU 118 Princ & Prac of Inst Asst

This course covers the instructional assistant's role in the educational system. Emphasis is placed on history of education, professional responsibilities and ethics, culturally, linguisti-cally, and ability diverse learners, communication skills with children, families, and colleagues, and understanding of evidenced-based instructional strategies. Upon completion, students should be able to identify professional responsibilities and ethical conduct in a school setting, describe effective communication strategies, and explain evidence-based instructional strategies based on formative assessment.
