EDU 118 Princ & Prac of Inst Asst

This course covers the instructional assistant's role in the educational system. Emphasis is placed on history of education, professional responsibilities and ethics, culturally, linguistically, and ability diverse learners, communication skills with children, families, and colleagues, and understanding of evidence-based instructional strategies. Upon completion, students should be able to identify professional responsibilities and ethical conduct in a school setting, describe effective communication strategies, and explain evidence-based instructional strategies based on formative assessment.
