Associate Degree Nursing (AAS), Registered Nursing (A45110)
Foothills Nursing Consortium Applicants: Please be advised that 2021 is the last year that applications will be accepted for the Foothills Nursing Consortium. The final cohort will begin in August 2021 and will graduate in May 2023. In January 2022, students will apply to the Associate Degree Nursing program of the individual community colleges: Cleveland Community College, Isothermal Community College or McDowell Technical Community College. Any student who gets off track for completion while admitted to the Foothills Nursing Consortium will need to reapply to their respective community college and complete there.
The Cleveland Community College Associate Degree Nursing program is a member of the Foothills Nursing Consortium with Isothermal Community College and McDowell Technical Community College. The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential.
Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing safe, individualized care while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics.
Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities.
Admission and Selection Criteria
Admission to Associate Degree Nursing is competitive among qualified applicants according to established criteria. There is a limited application period and exact admissions evaluation criteria are revised and updated annually. All Associate Degree Nursing applicants are required to attend an annual Health Sciences information session in order to declare Associate Degree Nursing as a program of study. An admissions application will be used to determine acceptance to the Associate Degree Nursing program. Students not selected to the program may reapply for the next year by attending another Health Sciences Information session. All applications for admission must be updated annually. If one has applied previously, he or she must initiate the process again, including the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) retesting.
CCC has established admissions and selection procedures to ensure students are admitted and selected in a consistent and equitable manner. The admissions application is only intended to provide students with a checklist assisting in identifying program eligibility requirements, while outlining the admissions/selection process. Completion of these requirements will not guarantee admission to the program.
Prospective ADN candidates residing in Cleveland, Rutherford, Polk, or McDowell counties must apply to the college serving their county. Other applicants may apply to the college of their convenience. Daytime and evening/weekend sections are offered to meet graduation requirements in the Nursing program. Graduates of this program will be awarded the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing.
The student is responsible for making sure that these requirements have been met and that all materials have been received by the Admissions Office. Admission requirements currently in effect must be completed.

Admission Requirements - LPN to ADN Option (Formerly Concept Based Advanced Placement (LPN))
The Fast Track Concept Based Curriculum has been renamed the LPN to ADN Option. It has a second semester (Spring) entry. Upon successful completion of NUR 214 in the second semester, LPNs who have completed a NCCCS PN Concept Based Curriculum will receive credit for NUR 111, NUR 112, and NUR 211. Upon successful completion of NUR 214 in the second semester, LPNs who have completed a traditional PN curriculum (not Concept Based) will receive credit for NUR 111 and NUR 112.
Daytime and evening/weekend sections are offered to meet graduation requirements in the Nursing program.
Graduates of this program will be awarded the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing.
All materials must be sent to the Admissions Office of the respective college.

Intra-Consortium Transfer/Reentry Policy
- All requests for reentry into the nursing program must be approved by the Admissions Office and the Nursing Director prior to implementation.
- Only one reentry will be considered between consortium member colleges or from other nursing programs.
- Students must remain with the college of entry during the program regardless of residence.
Course and Hour Requirements
Students are not allowed to enroll in the NUR courses until formally accepted into the program. Please see admission requirements. NUR 214 is for Concept Based Advanced Placement students entering first year Summer semester. Spring semester students will take BIO 169 and NUR 211. Summer semester students will take ENG 111, NUR 114, NUR 214 & PSY 241. (LPN License and all remaining non-nursing courses must be completed prior to entry). The LPN-ADN option is for students who have completed a concept-based PNE program.
