Fire Protection Technology Certificate (C55240)
The Fire Protection Technology certificate program is designed to provide knowledge of the fire service and its infrastructure. This program will focus on developing a sound foundation and understanding of the history of the fire service, public education, fire service building construction, introduction to wildland firefighting, fire sprinklers and auto alarms and fire protection law. All certificate courses are creditable toward the Associate in Applied Science in Fire Protection Technology.
This certificate will not meet any of the requirements for State Certification as a firefighter.
Program Outcomes:
- Analyze the history of the fire service and prevention and identify key events that have shaped present day fire protection.
- Distinguish between the different types of extinguishing agents, fire protection systems, and their applications, as well as their utilization during an emergency response.
- Compare and contrast the different types of building construction, their systems and features, and conclude how they impact fire protection.
