PSY 231 Forensic Psychology

This course introduces students to concepts which unite psychology and the legal system. Topics include defining competency, insanity, involuntary commitment, as well as introducing forensic assessment techniques, such as interviewing process, specialized assessments, and collecting collateral information. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge in areas of forensic psychology: risk assessment, criminal competencies, insanity, psychopathology, and mentally disordered offenders. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a Pre-major and/or elective course requirement.
